Kansas City College and Bible School welcomes international students who seek to be trained and equipped for effective Christian service. Please note the following requirements:
- The prospective college student must have completed twelve years of primary and secondary school prior to admission.
- The process for securing a student visa can be complicated and time-consuming. Prospective students should plan to have their applications in to KCCBS by March 1 of the year in which they wish to enter KCCBS. Normally, international students may only begin classes at the beginning of the academic year in August.
- Proof of English proficiency is required. This requirement may be met by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as part of the application procedure, and having the scores sent to KCCBS by indicating the code number 6339 for item number eight on the TOEFL application form. Application forms for the TOEFL test may be ordered from TOEFL/TSE Services, P.O. Box 6151, Princeton, NJ 08541 U.S.A.; by calling 1-609-771-7100; or by sending an e-mail to toefl@ets.org. A minimum TOEFL score of 400 is required.
- KCCBS policy requires that married foreign students must be accompanied by their spouses in order to be accepted as students.
Procedure for Admission as an International Student
The prospective international student will receive a student packet containing the catalog, an application, and personal reference forms.
- The application must be completed and returned to KCCBS with a $100.00 non-refundable fee.
- The personal reference forms must be completed by:
- the student’s pastor
- a teacher or school administrator who knows the student well
- an adult friend or acquaintance
Please do not give reference forms to relatives. If the student’s pastor is a relative, that form should be given to a church leader.
- Official transcripts must be sent to KCCBS from the high school of graduation and from any college(s) attended.
- After the student has been accepted by the KCCBS admissions committee, a required Affidavit of Support form will be sent to the prospective student. The student or a sponsor must complete the form, which validates sufficient financial resources for the student’s expenses. (The approximate costs for each year of college, which includes room, meals, tuition, books, and fees is $7500.) This amount is due upon enrollment.
- Upon the college’s approval of the Affidavit of Support form, an I-20 is issued to the student.
- The student must apply for a student visa from the nearest United States Embassy. At that time, the embassy will advise the student concerning all the requisites and regulations.
