Kansas City College and Bible School’s Board of Directors has unanimously approved the appointment of Delbert Scott as the College’s eleventh president, effective immediately. Mr. Scott has served since 2002 as a state senator from the 28th District of Missouri. Mr. Scott will succeed Dr. Gayle Woods, who is now an Associate Pastor at the Pomona, CA Cornerstone Church of God (Holiness) after serving as president of KCCBS from July 1995 to July 31, 2009.

Mr. Scott brings a unique combination of public service, Christian education and business savvy to KCCBS’s executive office. Prior to his service in the Missouri Senate he served for 18 years as a state representative. He has been involved in managing a family-owned small business for the past 34 years. He holds a BS in Education from Southwest Missouri State University, and is an alumnus of Kansas City College and Bible School. He completed his high school education at Mt. Zion Bible School near Ava, MO. He currently resides in Lowry City, MO, is an active member of the Lowry City Church of God (Holiness), and currently serves on the church’s Board of Deacons.

“We are simply delighted that Mr. Scott has decided to come to Kansas City College and Bible School to become our next president,” said Rodney Davis, KCCBS Board Chairman. “Delbert will bring all sorts of capability, insight, and drive to take KCCBS into a new decade. Delbert’s leadership qualities, his personal interactive relationship capabilities, and his education make him a natural choice to follow the great job that Dr. Gayle Woods has done.”

Mr. Scott brings with him his wife, Donna Kramer Scott.

The KCCBS Board of Directors conducted an open forum meeting with constituents on September 14, 2009. Chairman Rod Davis called the meeting to order and expressed appreciation for the loyal supporters of KCCBS.

William Cook, Director of Operations, expressed appreciation for a dedicated faculty and staff. He said total enrollment in all departments is up slightly from last year to sixty-six. Contributions are also up.

Dwight Purtle outlined the process the board is following in its presidential search. Starting with about thirty potential candidates, the list has been narrowed to four. The Presidential Search Committee is conducting extensive interviews with these candidates.

The chairman talked about the mission of KCCBS and the board’s desire for openness and excellence. The accreditation process is a long one but progress is being made.

Several constituents asked questions and made comments regarding the presidential search. Various board members responded to questions and gave additional input. The chairman urged us to make prayer a priority in this search. The meeting seemed well received.

At the suggestion of a faculty member, the meeting closed with a special time of prayer for the KCCBS Board as the members deal with the important issues of our school.

As you most likely have heard, Dr. Gayle Woods has resigned as President of Kansas City College and Bible School, effective July 31, 2009. The Board of Directors accepted his resignation with regrets, but recognize that God is in control. We trust Him for wisdom and guidance through this challenge.

Bro. William Cook has agreed to serve as Director of Operations while the Board of Directors conducts a Presidential search.

We recognize the difficulties and challenges that lie ahead, and we ask for your support and prayers as the KCCBS Board of Directors looks to the future. In addition, we are seeking ways to streamline our operations so we can be most effective and good stewards of what God has given to us through His people. We are excited about the Capital Campaign, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, the new pre-school, and the possibilities for our future!

Please join us in renewed support and prayer as we pledge to seek God’s direction and pursue a course of excellence for our school.
